Well, I hope that what I am doing is helping to make the world a better place, even in a small way. If we use our ocean more wisely, all the resources will be there for future generations, so it would be nice to think that my work is helping a little to make more people aware of its importance.
Another activity I have been involved in is in volunteerinng in Kenya workinng with rural villages to install rainwater collection tanks, install smokeless stoves, so thewomen have less respitory diseases, burns, and eye problems, working with school children so they understand the importance of washing their hands after going to the toilet. They may be small things, but I am sure they have made a difference to some people living there, so I believe I am doing a little to help the world. If we all did a little, then it would be a better place.

Invest the majority of the money being spent on weapons into medicine, science and engineering to produce medicines & “basic life improvement” inventions which can be easily transported to poorer countries and used by those living there to make their lives better. The rest of the money I would spend teaching the people there how to use them.

Inspire people to be anything that they wanted to be- to Dream bigger than they can possibly imagine and become the future thought leaders that will make the world a better place because they believed in themselves to be that person and never doubted that they would achieve that.

Hi David, I think education for everyone would be amazing. We sometimes don’t realize how lucky we are to have all of these opportunities just going to school and college (even if some days you think it’s boring). So many children around the world- girls especially, never get the chance to go to school. I look at all these really clever questions here and think wow, Ireland is really doing well for the next generation. It would be wonderful if all countries were like that.

I like to think that most of the work I do will have some sort of positive impact on the world. However, I would love to be involved in helping the world have access to clean water and food. I believe that the space industry can help us move towards this fact since if we are to have human exploration in deep space on planets which are completely hostile to us, we will need to be able to live there. Every technology we create to help us do this and live on a hostile planet will be able to be used back on earth.
