In ESA, I get about 30 days per year for holidays. Then there are public holidays etc. Is it enough – sometimes it is never enough, sometimes you don’t get a chance to take all the days if your project is really busy. When it comes to holidays, 2 weeks is just enough to start forgetting about work while 3 weeks is the best to fully disconnect. Normally I take 2 full weeks at a time off in summer and a week here and there.

I get 25 days now and then we close the office netween christmas and new year. It’s important to take a break from time to time. Three weeks at a time is great as you manage to forget about work and recharge the batteries . But if you enjoy your job you are not always counting down to the next holiday.

I don’t get any days off work because I’m my own boss. If I take a day off, then I don’t get paid. BUT – I decide my own hours of work too, so sometimes if I can’t sleep, I can work all night and then take the daytime off, if I really wanted to, too!

I get 25 days a year off with the option of carrying 9 unused holidays over to the next year. As well as this my work operates with flex-time. We just have to be in work between the hours of 9:30 and 16:00 Mon-Thurs and 9:30 to 12:00 on a Friday. So if we work hard during the week and make up the hours we can take a half day every Friday! I think that’s a pretty good situation to be in don’t you? 🙂
