Hi Ryan, An electrical systems engineer is interested in the combining electrical devices to create an overall system. It isn’t involved in the circuit board or inner workings of each device, rather it thinks of them as a black box which we have an expected input and output. After that we look for the device that best suits the need from suppliers and we run analysis on it to make sure the system we have designed all works together. Within my department an electrical systems engineer can be involved in multiple parts of the satellite like the electrical power system, data handling (the computer that controls the satellite), the satellite’s communication system and so on.
